How to get a girl in kigali
New approaches are needed to monitor and evaluate health and social development. Existing strategies tend to require expensive, time-consuming analytical procedures. The growing emphasis on results-based programming has resulted in evaluation being conducted in order to demonstrate accountability and success, rather than how change takes place, what works and why. Two recent developments hold the potential to transcend these difficulties and to lead to important changes in the way in which the effects of health and social development programming are understood. Second, there are calls for the greater use of interpretive and ethnographic methods in programme design, monitoring and evaluation.

What Women Want in Kigali (and Beyond)
I am planning to travel to Rwanda alone next month to see the gorillas and to just hang out a bit. I was wondering, since I'm a solo female traveler, is it safe to do normal tourist things alone? Also, I would like to travel by land to Tanzania , and I have read that transport is minimal. Does anyone have any information about this? I'd like to get to the Serengeti after my gorilla trek.
Just read your posting.. I am a kenyan male aged 31 and been travelling to rwanda on a number of occasions. I find it quite safe even on your own. Am on my way to rwanda now and if you have any more quiz just hola! I am planning to travel to Rwanda alone in Dec same reason as you and I am too planning to travel by land but to Nairboi.
Also i am female. I would like to here about your trip when you return. Hopeful your trip tips may help me. I am also going to be in Africa alone - female - I will be travelling through Kenya , Uganda , Tanzania I am only a little concerned about being in Zanzibar during the start of Ramadan, but won't let it worry me too much. I am a little more concerned about the two days I will be alone in Nairobi I would love to hear about the experiences of other solo female travellers.
I have travelled alone quite a bit, but this is the first time going alone to a third world country. Hi - Just returned from trip to Africa in July ' Giraffe Manor outside Nairobi is a wonderful spot for an overnight.
It's a giraffe sanctuary and you can feed giraffes who come up to the house to "visit" for treats. Both countries are beautiful and the people just wonderful.
I don't know that I'd wander some of the cities alone Staff is great. The treks to see the gorillas were easier and better viewing in Rwanda than Uganda. Although I think it's the luck of the draw for wherever they happen to be when you go. One actually reached over and "slapped" me on the leg as he ambled by.
Great viewing and great photo's. Rwanda is a beautiful country. I am planning a trip to Rwanda for the love of trying new things. All of the information I found so far in this forum has been most helpful. I am female and may be traveling alone.
Does anyone have information about the best airport to fly into, airlines , and the bvest time of day to travel? Thanks in advance. Happy travels! We flew into Kigali from Nairobi on Kenya Airways. Flight was maybe 90 minutes tops. Got to Kigali by 10 or 11am, met at airport by our guide and driven the perhaps hours to Gorillas Nest Lodge where we were staying.
There again seemed to be plenty of Kenya Airways flights -but since we were flying Uganda back to Nairobi and then on to Seychelles I"m not sure of flights from Uganda to Rwanda try expedia. Pix of our treks are at www. The plane was a as I recall -- a widebody anyway, and not very full. It stopped in Burundi, which was interesting. The flight back to Nairobi from Kigali, also KA, was non-stop. I do not think that it is quite as "high" season now as in August. One word of warning: Kenya Air changes its schedule often, so always confirm your flight times.
I have posted my email address on other posts, so feel free to contact me if I can answer any questions or try. Hi, I was wondering if you ever made it to Rwanda. Have you just arrived in Kigali? Assuming, of course, that your new housemates are sociable people who like you and want to include you in their Kigali social circle. Most of the people I know in Kigali are pretty close with their housemates and hang out with them, go on trips together, throw parties and all of that fun stuff. So if that sounds good to you, take your time when finding a house and make sure you get along well with your potential new housemates.

D iane Rwigara asks to postpone the interview. For this, she has paid a heavy price. In her grand, heavily fortified home in the heart of Kigali, the Rwandan capital, the interview goes ahead after her adviser — a close friend — turns up safe. A stranger had called the night before and asked him to come for a drink. He woke up the next day in a hotel room, his phone missing, remembering nothing from the previous night. He has still not reappeared. On 7 July the National Electoral Commission barred her from standing on technical grounds, a move that came as little surprise to most. Criticism is barely tolerated, and the history of the past 15 or so years is littered with the names of opponents silenced and dissenters muzzled. To that list Rwigara adds her father, a prominent Tutsi businessman known to have been close to the RPF, at least early on. But he did not want to let them in; he did not want to end up working for them.

Rwanda: Where the women are kind, the men are generous and everyone is just so nice
The Rwanda National Chapter of OWSD, established in March , has quickly become one of the most active Chapters, particularly in its outreach activities to women and girls in universities and local secondary schools. The half-day programme combined scientific talks with informational speeches and a panel discussion aimed at showcasing and highlighting the potential of Rwandan women scientists and their role in society. The breakfast aimed to bring together future generations of women scientists with those in the early stages of their careers, as well as stakeholders from various Rwandan institutions and organizations committed to the inclusion and empowerment of women in science-related fields. It was presented as an opportunity for young scientists to be inspired, and for the audience at large to learn about the work of successful women scientists in Rwanda. Of the guests who attended the event, many women expressed that the discussions and the interactive panel in particular gave them a greater feeling of confidence in their careers. About girls from ages attended the presentations. The initiative organized seminars to create greater awareness about career paths in STEM among young girls in Rwanda, and was aimed at O-level students 14 to 16 years old at the point of choosing their future career paths.
