Importing a Gmail contact list helps users find business associates and friends that may be using a different name on Facebook. This feature saves users hours of manual searching by automatically listing every account found for the email address in the contact list.
Importing it is a simple process. Log in to the Gmail account in a browser instead of a POP3 email client. Click on the "Contacts" link found in the upper left part of the page. Click on the "More" button to open a menu and select "Export" from the drop-down menu.
Select the email addresses you want to include by the group you have assigned them in Gmail, or leave the settings the same to export the entire contact list. Select the radio button next to "Google CSV format" for the exported file. Click the "Export" button. Choose a location on your computer's hard drive to save the file that begins downloading. Make a note of this location to find it later. Log in to Facebook. Click on the "Find Friends" link and choose the Gmail tab halfway down the page.
Click the blue "Find Friends" button that appears below the tab. Scroll down to the bottom of the page. Press the "Browse" button next to the field labeled "Contact file. Click the "Open" button to upload the file. Press the blue "Upload Contacts" button below the contact file field.
