The man who went viral this week for eating — and then subsequently dumping — a bin filled with cereal and milk on the New York City subway is now apologizing after facing huge backlash online. Josh Popkin, aka fckjoshy on TikTok , posted a video to his YouTube channel yesterday asking viewers for their forgiveness after his poor excuse for a prank video started making the rounds earlier in the week.
In the apology video, Popkin dons a homemade tie-dye Croc necklace while cycling through a list of 50 comments he received that called him out for his behavior in the original clip. Users seem to not only be critical of the authenticity of his apology, but also of the style and format of the video in general; his sentences are split into a series of quick cuts rather than assembled as a whole apology.
The full apology video is nowhere near as shocking as the original clip, which sparked criticism around the world from people who sympathized with the essential workers who were made to clean up the mess. Although Popkin has over three million followers on TikTok, it seems as if very few, if any, were in support of his most recent stunt and the clip has since been deleted.
Famous men are having a hard time in quarantine. And I will barely even mix it up… I eat out of cans and stuff. Without his Tompkins Square bacon, egg and cheese, Chalamet appears to be subsisting on honey, Triscuits and Kraft macaroni and cheese. He shared a blurry, captionless photo of his pantry yesterday quirky! I suppose adolescent breakouts like Timo and Rob have literally never been responsible for arranging their meals: their mothers passed off meal duties to agents, publicists, caterers and craft services.
Just saying, Hollywood. When her SOPHIE -produced Vroom Vroom EP dropped in , it felt as if critical consensus had been reached overnight — this music was, supposedly, what the pop records of coming decades or centuries will sound like, and Charli was a star prophetic enough to beam these sounds into the s.
Shiny and uncanny, seemingly against nature, it appeared to foreshadow new and weird ways of communicating. What was this music, if not futuristic? When Charli named her Cook-produced mixtape Pop 2 — as in, a sequel to pop itself — it felt like the term was carved in stone. Camp, outsized visions of the future in pop culture are nothing new; the futurists of the early 20th century glorified a new world order where technology eradicated the organic, while The Jetsons planted ideas of flying cars and quirky aliens in the minds of baby boomers.
Describing synthpop as futuristic has been a hallmark of the genre since its inception; computer music has always tended to confound critics. It absorbs the clamor of our current moment — the clatter of factories, the constant buzz of gentrification-inducing construction, the crush of landfill — and warps it. Or maybe the alternative was just a little too upsetting to comprehend: that this music, born in the same era as sanitized steel condominium towers and smartphone-induced disconnection, was actually an all-too-real reflection of our current state.

The most raucous artists among this scene, like Slayyyter and gecs, push the form to absurdist limits, creating chaotic and unwieldy party tracks that harness our common experience of constant overstimulation. The fact that so many are so willing to immediately cop to Charli, Cook and co. Certain pockets of culture do predict or push towards a less Amazon-ified future.
I hope, for our own sake, that the year sounds very different. Rapper and philanthropist Common is here to remind us of an often overlooked, but crucial group that we need to prioritize in this pandemic: incarcerated peoples who are unable to social distance, nor practice efficient hygiene.
If ignored, outbreaks within these tight spaces could adversely affect millions of incarcerated Americans. WeMatterToo urges authorities to release anyone who has served the majority of their sentence, and prioritizes those with existing health conditions as coronavirus continues to threaten safety. Another major goal of the campaign is for the government to fund testing and housing for inmates after they are released. Let this time show us that we are all interconnected.
We have to be there for our vulnerable communities including our people who are currently incarcerated. Our fates are tied together so we must be courageous and act now.

He also uploaded a short film with recordings and interviews from inmates concerned and fearful of the virus spreading in confined spaces. In the powerful video, you can hear inmates describe their living conditions: bunk beds, cells containing six people, etc.
According to recent data calculated by the US Bureau of Prisons , there are 2, federal inmates and BOP staff who have confirmed positive test results for COVID nationwide — and that figure is only based off of those tested.

Now that online validation is the only kind that exists, no one is above contributing to the daily glut of amateurish video content that helps make up our soul-destroying new normal. Karlie Kloss is doing it, as is your old boss from that call center job you took after college graduation. As content hysteria takes hold, we turn to established experts for guidance. These videos, though deceptively skillful and tricky to pull off, are characterized by lo-fi production and off-the-cuff riffs.
A hallmark of the genre is an abrupt mid-sentence ending. Also popular: fake movie audition tapes. PAPER asked some of our favorite selfie comedians to give us their hot tips for creating clout-y quarantine clips. Tess Gattuso. Then I shot my presentation on the couch in around 10 minutes. After that, I coaxed Cameron into agreeing to be on camera and instructed him on the actions to carry out for the cutaway scenes. I have tons of footage of us laughing for no reason and me adapting a maternal voice to keep us on track.
It totally depends. It varies. Whatever the concept, I typically think about it as long as I need to so that sitting down to write it takes minutes at most.
Then around 20 minutes to shoot. About an hour or two to edit. Oh, and finding music is an intense process—sometimes I get lucky and find a track on the second or third try.
I will not settle on a song until it fits perfectly. That adds a decent amount of time. That was frustrating. My body betrayed me! So I changed back into the tight outfit despite it being 11pm and feeling like a Krispy Kreme donut. I decided not to wait until the next day to reshoot because I do NOT like waiting. The nips are still kind of making themselves known, but not as bad as it had been — trust me. I love the stories feature—the other night I posted like 40 stories begging major ice cream brands to sponsor me.
I love sharing jokes and thoughts and seeing what works and how people respond. Oh well. I filmed myself telling a story, took four days to edit it together, then began to worry the story was too personal for YouTube this early on in my career.
I gave it a second try by filming myself as I cleaned my room. This video also ended up being weird because I had put off cleaning my room for so long that I freaked out and went on a rant about mental health. Life has been getting in the way, but I might throw it up there for fun when I have a moment to edit it. I recently started making TikToks. Not sure how I feel about it yet! What equipment do you use? This is embarrassing.
My equipment is my phone. I use premiere pro to edit. I do not use a tripod, I use a thick feminist methodology book, balance my phone against the wall, or hold the phone with my hand. I have this issue with other areas of my life. I think it would be nice and I could go buy one, but why?
One day. There are all these memes right now about people developing relationships with lamps, and I feel that. While isolating, have you changed the way you make these videos — are there now additional constraints?
I lost my job a few weeks after quarantine began. EDD if you see this, please answer my calls. On the other hand, I now have all this time to bring ideas to fruition. Now, I can be more flexible. You win some, you lose some. Many celebrities, minor Twitter blue checks and other members of the tasteless masses have started filming front facing camera videos under lockdown.
As an expert in the form, what is your advice to them? I always try to make stuff that only I can make. Jeff Wright. My favorite video has to be the one I made about aliens or interacting with God in heaven. Whatever you have is your best tool honestly. You often film yourself as different characters from different angles. Do you get friends to help you film or do it solo? While isolating, have you changed the way you make these videos?
My advice is to do what makes you happy, be original — be yourself because thats what the world wants to see, and stay positive.
Meg Stalter. Being in quarantine is high school all over again.

A second version featuring and co-written by American rapper Cardi B, was released on May 30, , as the album's fifth and final single. The single is a commercial success, peaking at number one on the US Billboard Hot chart, making it Maroon 5's fourth and Cardi B's third chart-topper, who extended her record for most number-ones among female rappers.
