Urban Farming Done Right

When

I moved back to the urban landscape of the Philadelphia area, I thought my days of eating locally sourced food year round were over. I was pleased to discover, however, that Philadelphia is in fact home to a fantastic organization called Greensgrow Farms which fulfills my local food fantasies and much more.

Located in the trendy Fishtown neighborhood, Greensgrow Farms incorporates urban farming with supporting nearby food producers in both Pennsylvania and mobile.ae.org New Jersey. The farm stand is open twice a week selling local online roulette produce, meats and premade food such online casino a breads and jams. There are also additional vendors selling a variety of products including the most interesting and delicious pierogies this side of anywhere (key lime pie pierogies are seriously awesome.) Locals can also pay into a community supported agriculture (CSA) share to get a variety of local goodies from around the region. Perhaps the best part of this project though is that the farm accepts food stamps, helping encourage better nutrition among lower income communities.

The farm is not limited to groceries either but also has a nursery and sells pots and other gardening items. Greensgrow Farms is a unique and beneficial addition to the community.
