The LGBT-”IQ” Tour
The pride of Philadelphia
This comprehensive two-hour walk shows the ups and downs of gay life in Philadelphia throughout history. You’ll hear about painters, poets, politicians, and military men as we walk through the bustling streets of historic Old City Philadelphia. We’ll tell you about gays in the (Continental) army and how Ben Franklin’s “Don’t-Ask-Don’t-Tell” policy may have helped win the American Revolution.
After walking through Washington Square Park, we’ll take you through the vibrant streets of the Philadelphia Gayborhood where you’ll encounter the activists, drag queens, and others that helped shape the Gayborhood into what it is today.
The tour ends at the William Way Community Center in Center City, one block away from the Walnut-Locust stop on the Broad Street Line.
